Anthony Gunadi

Composer, Game Audio, Educator

Anthony Gunadi is a Canadian composer whose work spans a wide range of genres within classical concert music, video game audio, music education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

His achievements include winning the first-ever 1st place Achievement in Audio at the 2025 Level Up Student Showcase for "Cooking with a Gun", the 2023-24 Orchestra Toronto Prize in Composition for "Snowflakes by the Hearth", and the 2023-24 University of Toronto Piano Trio Composition Competition for "Maker of the World".

In addition to his compositional work, Anthony teaches composition, music theory, music production, and piano to students of varying ages and experience levels.

He is currently studying in Professor Norbert Palej’s studio as an undergraduate fourth-year composition specialist at the University of Toronto. He has presented work in masterclasses with Ana Sokolović and Marjan Mozetich, and received lessons from Keith Fitch, Ron Royer, Jeffrey Ryan, Linda Catlin Smith, and Alfredo Santa Ana. His journey has been enriched by diverse musical experiences and he strives to combine his influences to create a musical voice that resonates with a broader audience.

Titan

After premiering "Summer's Wind" back in November, Jeffrey Zhu asked me to compose him a piece for solo car muffler and electronics to premiere in his mythology-themed recital. After months of discussions and iterations and experiments in the percussion studio, the result is this new work, Titan.

I Hear You Through My Heart

This art song premiered by Arushi Das and Angela Ng during the 2025 UofT New Music Festival, in collaboration with SNATS at the Canadian Art Song Showcase.

Summer's Wind

My first percussion quartet piece premiered by Elyssa Arde, Jeffrey Zhu, Thomas Carli, and Yue Yin Zhang at the UofT Student Composer Concert.

Maker of the World

This piano trio is the winner of the 2023-24 University of Toronto Piano Trio Composition Competition, premiered by the Bedford Trio at the 2024 UTNMF. Thank you to the Bedford Trio, my teacher Prof. Norbert Palej, and the generosity of Alexandrina and Jeffrey Canto-Thaler for making this competition and performance possible.

This song was premiered at the UofT Student Composer Concert (January 23, 2024) and performed again in the UofT SNATS Art Song Showcase (January 28, 2024) of which this recording is from. This was composed in April 2023 for Arushi Das (soprano) and Angela Ng (piano).

Snowflakes by the Hearth

This orchestral piece was the winner of the 2023-24 Orchestra Toronto Prize in Composition and premiered by Orchestra Toronto on December 10th 2023, at their sold out concert "A Winter Festival"!

Acquainted with the Night

During my first year undergrad at UofT, I wrote this song for Monica set to the text of Robert Frost's poem "Acquainted with the Night". I'm happy to have it finally performed in the UofT Student Composer Concert by Monica Lindsay and Jingren Sun.

Coup De Grâce

Coup de Grâce was premiered on March 14 2023 at the UofT Student Composer Concert by Vincent Poon (violin 1), Satchi Kanashiro (violin 2), Thijs Vorstman (viola), and Maren Helyar (cello). I composed this piece in December 2022, inspired by the excitement I felt from listening to Stravinsky's Basle Concerto.

Rainy Night Stroll

This is a solo piano piece depicting a scene with light rain, a slightly chilly breeze with the scent of dampness in the air, and the inexplainable feeling of satisfaction of taking in these surroundings late at night. This was premiered at the UofT Student Composer Concert, performed by the pianist Phoebe Enpei Lin.

Late Autumn Trees

A solo piano piece, taking some inspiration from the romantic style. Composed in the fall, I visualized nearly bald trees losing the last of their leaves, being blown away by a hollow wind. The trees look lackluster, yet the worse is yet to come, as every passing day gets colder and daytime gets shorter.
