Joseph Funk

Joseph Funk (he/him) is a hard-hitting brass musician and composer/arranger from Toronto. His music is performed in various diverse groups like the Live Video Game Orchestra, the Sunshower Collective, the Royal Canadian Navy, and his own Funk10tet. He won Artist of the Year at the 2025 Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival, is the inaugural recipient (2023) of the Guido Basso Flugelhorn Scholarship, and is also the the 2020 recipient of the full tuition Albert and Wilhelmine Francis Entrance Scholarship in Music and the University of Toronto. He held the November 2023 artist residency at the Emmet Ray and has performed at prestigious venues such as the Rex Hotel, Jazz Bistro, Phoenix Concert Theatre, Kensington Market Jazz Festival, Beaches Jazz Festival, and the Drake Underground. Joseph’s unmistakable sound and creative musical presence have led him to be one of the most distinct trumpet voices in Toronto.
