Bjorn Kriel
Vibraphone, Keyboard
Bjorn Kriel is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter based out of Toronto, specializing in vibraphone and mallet percussion. He distills inspiration from a vast appreciation of musical genres, fine arts, and human experiences to create songs that are present and earnest. Bjorn enjoys collaborating with artists of all genres, and has contributed his playing to a number of albums in Toronto and beyond. Notably, he is the vibraphonist in jazz-fusion quartet Diskarte, half of electro-acoustic duo Crystal Sting, and the electric bassist for ethereal folk-rock band Stacks. In 2024, Bjorn released his debut album The Eternal Drip; a genre-bending meditation on loss and artistic process that features Bjorn on nearly every instrument. This year he has released a series of singles and EPs that focus mostly on instrumental chamber-jazz works. No matter the context, Bjorn is a bold voice, an attentive listener, and a hard-working collaborator who is passionate about creating authentic original music. Bjorn is currently pursuing a master’s degree in jazz performance at the University of Toronto.
