
Thomas Carli
Percussion
Thomas Carli is a composer, producer, educator, and multi-instrumentalist based in Toronto. Thomas's pieces have been played by ensembles such as the Oriana Women's Chorus, Continuum Ensemble, University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, JACK Quartet, and the Macmillan Singers. Thomas has received commissions to write and produce music for the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, The Canadian Film and Television Costume Awards (CAFTCAD), Kurtis Connor's “Keep Busy”, and several short films by independent filmmakers and animators. As a music editor and composer’s assistant, Thomas has contributed to television series such as Wynonna Earp, Murdoch Mysteries, and The Borderline. An accomplished drummer and percussionist, Thomas has appeared on stage and in the studio with acts such as AVIV, Danny Michel, Lia Pappas-Kemps, Mini Pop Kids, Max Parker, The Commune, Meteor Heist, Siobhan Bodrug, Trash Panda Brass, Irish Millie, Hitmen Drumline, University of Toronto Percussion Ensemble, the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Hannaford Brass Band. As a producer, Thomas’s recordings have amassed over 100,000 streams, and he continues to expand his reach through collaborations with emerging indie artists. Thomas’s teaching accolades include 8 years of MJMS music camp (4 years as camp leader), 4 years as a faculty assistant at Interprovincial Music Camp, 4 years as a private music instructor at Palmerston Music Factory, classes and workshops lead at several schools including the Jackman Institute of Child Study, and a private studio of Drum students in Toronto. Currently in his fourth year of undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, Thomas is pursuing a degree in composition under the guidance of Christos Hatzis while also studying percussion with Aiyun Huang.
