Jon Bilek
Percussion
Jon Bilek is a percussionist in his second year of the performance program at UofT. He’s currently studying under Aiyun Huang and Beverley Johnston. He started his musical journey playing drumset in rock and jazz combos throughout high school. Through these ensembles he has played at many Toronto venues such as the Rex and the Emmet Ray. His orchestral experience and love of symphonic music started with the Brampton Rose Orchestra. He has also been with Orchestra Toronto performing in their last season, and currently performs with the University of Toronto Symphonic Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. Along with orchestral playing, Jon plays in many musical theatre performances around Toronto, most recently playing in Trinity College Dramatic Society’s production of Anyone Can Whistle. He has also played with Dora award winning Shifting Ground Collective, and is performing with Horror Show Production in their showing of Sweeney Todd. Jon loves the contemporary compositions being championed by minMAX, and the musicality of all the performers involved.
