Vincent Poon
Violin
Born and raised in Toronto, Vincent spent his childhood exploring the instrument as a hobby before turning it into his career. Through the help of his teachers Daniel Yoo, Dr. Timothy Ying, and Mark Fewer, he has won numerous awards from competitions and scholarships. A few of those include “Best Advanced Violinist” from North York Music Festival, “Outstanding Junior Upper Strings Award” from Agincourt Collegiate Institute, passing onto the finals in CANIMEX Canadian Music Competition, and numerous first prize awards from Kiwanis Music Festival and International Music Festival and Competition. As Vincent is pursuing a Masters in Violin Performance at the University of Toronto, he can be found performing frequently in orchestral, chamber, and solo settings. In addition to his strong academic performance which granted him multiple scholarships and awards, he has found great success in teaching students on the violin and viola in private or chamber settings.
