Jordan Middleton
Composer, Flute, Soprano Saxophone, Alto Saxophone
Jordan Middleton is a young alto saxophonist born in High River, Alberta who grew up playing in the Calgary jazz scene in a myriad of bands, big and small. After occupying the lead alto chair for two years in the JazzYYC Youth Lab Band, he moved to Toronto to immerse himself in jazz studies at the University of Toronto. This year marks the second consecutive year he has been appointed as lead alto in the U of T 10 o'clock Jazz Orchestra, directed by Shirantha Beddage. Jordan has since become a developed bandleader and performer, putting together many of his own concerts in the big city where he debuts student compositions written by himself and his peers. When it comes to original compositions, Jordan already has a hefty portfolio under his belt, writing for bands from jazz combos, to big bands, to classical-jazz fusion bands. In participating in the minMAX Electroacoustic Orchestra, Jordan's strengths as both a performer and composer are strongly showcased, and he hoped you enjoy his song "Lefthand Woman"!
