Reuben Faigao

Biography

Reuben Faigao is a Filipino percussionist and composer based in Mississauga, Ontario. He is in his third year as an undergraduate student, pursuing his Bachelor of Music (Performance), with a Minor in Composition. He has studied under the tutelage of Dr. Aiyun Huang, Dr. Beverly Johnston, Ryan Scott and Patrick Wu. Since having learned the drumset at a very young age, his love for percussion, and music as a whole, continues to grow. As a percussionist, he has previously performed with the school’s Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra (UTSO), and the Jack Long Honour Band (as part of MusicFest 2025). As a composer, his music was featured in the University of Toronto New Music Festival (UTNMF) 2026, and student composer concerts. In May 2026, he presented his original piece, Child’s Play, written for percussion and tape, at the Canadian Percussion Network’s “The Space Between (TSB) V” Conference. Reuben has taken part in several on- and off-campus musical theatre productions on and off campus. Notable mentions include “Dogfight” (Thaumatrope Theatre, Nov 2024), “Anyone Can Whistle” (TCDS, Sep 2025) and “Sweeney Todd” (Horrorshow Productions, Dec 2025). Outside of school, Reuben is active in his church as a musician and worship leader. He is also a private instructor and class teacher in Mississauga-based music studio.
